ABCDEFGFEDCBABCDEFGFEDCBA

Sometimes when I go to get on to blogger, I pull it up and I'm signed into Brandon's account. Now...this wouldn't be weird if we used the same user profile. But we don't. I don't get it. I'm never randomly signed into his Facebook, so why blogger? Who knows.
While Brandon was putting up the Christmas lights outside today, like the awesomeness that he is, he found a power cord that he thought might fit my keyboard.  Well, you see, this keyboard is something that my family has had for 20 years (and it was a used gift then) and technology has changed so much in the last 20 years, and there are so many different variations on everything, that we've had a problem in finding one that will fit. Well, since we picked up the keyboard in August, I've been dying to play it (obviously not too badly, because it's been 3 1/2 months) and he found that cord in the Christmas box, and said "hey, see if this fits your keyboard" and it did! Well, it kinda fits, but it works, unless you  bump it too hard. I'm stoked.
I've always felt like a slacker mormon girl because I don't know how to play the piano and I can't sing very well. I scrapbook, but that's the only Mormon-ish thing that I'm good at. And even that...I think it's been over a year. So, now that I can actually practice the piano, I'm totally going to, and I already have lesson books from when I was younger, so I have NO MORE EXCUSES! I'm gonna do it. And this will be me:

The sound of a piano is one of my favorite things in the whole world. Up there with apple cider, chocolate chip cookies and sleeping in in the morning.
30-60 minutes a day. Do you think I can do it? I think I can do it. Do you think I WILL do it?? That's another question. We shall see, we shall see, we shall see. I've been doing better at posting blogs, journaling and packing my lunches, so maybe that's a sign for the better. :)

Books

I always have a hard time before hand figuring out what I want to post about, but once I actually sit down, it doesn't seem that hard.
This post is about books.
Someday ... this will be in my house.
I love books. I love the smell of books, the look of books on my shelf, the way I feel when I read the last words of a book that I have been really into. I slip into a book really easily (well, a good book), and I hate it when I am yanked out of it to go back to the real world. Especially when I'm reading on my lunch break and I have to go back to hell. The alternate realities of books is fascinating, as well as how much I feel like I'm a part of it while I'm reading it. I want to have a library one day. A room dedicated just to books and their awesomeness.
While I was in school and teachers would assign certain books to read, I would always want to read them...but I rarely ever did. I think I read the Odyssey and...that quite possibly is one of the only books in college that I was assigned to read and actually finished. I read lots of those books later, but in the duration of class, I always had trouble. I always thought that after I finished school when I didn't have papers and tests to worry about that I would read more...and I was right. I have always read more outside of school. I think it's because I have to be in the mood to read a book. I have so many that I own that I haven't read, and it's because the mood really does have to strike me to read any book.
I just read the Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath and it was amazing. I can absolutely see how other people wouldn't like it, but I thought it was captivating and I really felt an connection with the narrator. For me, that's what a good book is. Something that draws me in and keeps me there in the story, right with her as she's walking around her house looking for something to tie the silk rope that is hanging around her neck to so that she can kill herself. And I love historical pieces (ok, the 50s weren't that long ago, but I wasn't alive during them, and Sylvia Plath was older than my parents, so it's even a little before their time) written by authors that lived during that time period, so that you can really get a feel for what things were actually like then.
What's my favorite book? Emma by Jane Austen. Hands down.
BBC Emma
The BEST film version of the novel I have seen.
Jane Austen, as always, has wit and humor that rivals all other authors I have read, and her heroine (if you can really call her that...) Emma is unique in the sense that she is so ridiculously flawed, it's a marvel that Mr. Knightley could ever be in love with her, but then you realize that he sees through to the inner Emma that shines though at the end of the novel when she grows up and sheds most of those flaws that you have watched her struggle with through the entire story. THAT'S why I love Emma so much! She progresses and overcomes herself and all of her imperfections - which is what we all need to do. It's more than girl meets boy and then girl and boy hook up, but then split up, but then end up together in the end (which is the plot line of 95% of the romantic comedies in the world). It's so much more.
My dream job
One day I will live in a place like this and I'll be able to read all day.

Alright, I'm done.

X-mas

Oh hey, I have to post today.
Post.
Here's my gripe for the day.
Ignorance.

All you have to do is look it up on Wikipedia, you don't have to go to a university (which is where I learned this), you can find it very easily online...So...do your homework before you bitch about it.

"Xmas" is a common abbreviation of the word "Christmas". It is sometimes pronounced /ˈɛksməs/, but it, and variants such as "Xtemass", originated as handwriting abbreviations for the typical pronunciation, /ˈkrɪsməs/. The "-mas" part is from the Latin-derived Old English word for "mass", while the "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Χριστός, translated as "Christ".
 Get your facts straight.

Batman and Beyond

Got a new batman toboggan today. They call them beanies here.
I am unashamedly a batman fan. I'm gonna name my dog Bruce. I think I've decided to get a black Great Dane and name him Bruce and then a black lab and name him Grayson. Then I'll have to get a black cat and name her Selina or Kyle, because I don't really like the name Selina (no offense to all of the Selinas out there).

Bruce will have a yellow collar and Grayson will have a red one...or maybe a blue one because Nightwing is blue.
I've been watching a lot of the old school Batman lately...and I can only take it in doses. It's so funny. I posted a couple of videos of Batman dancing that I think are hilarious.  Oh, Adam West, you crack me up. And make me glad that they made Batman a darker character.

And then a hamster named Damian. Because he's just a twerp.

Cute baby/kid costumes that I hope my kids will wear one day:

You know, one day.

That's enough procrastinating today.

The Greatest Bat-Dance EVER

Batman Dancing

Day 3 and only kinda goin' strong

EPIC FAIL! I skipped day two. Well, I was in a car for 13 hours while taking my brother and niece back down to NC and then driving back. I'm glad I have Brandon to drive with me.
We had some Andy's, and I forgot how good a chicken cheesesteak is. With pickles, of-course.
Tomorrow I go back to work. And deal with a lady who freaked out over the $1.50 we charged her for delivery on Wednesday and is coming back in tomorrow to "dispute it." Don't people have better things to do with their time?
Like put up their Christmas tree! Like Brandon and I did today. One of my favorite things in the whole world is ornaments. Love 'em.
Now it's bedtime.

Pre-New Years resolutions

I resolve to write a post every day. It may not be about anything. It may be about something very inspiring, or it may be the random typage of my niece.

Isabella has been with us for the last week. I love it. Cutest little girl EVER! She's my favorite.

Okay, she wants to watch Hannah Montana on Netflix on the computer, so here's the end.

The end.

Change is in the air

I woke up this morning, like every other Sunday morning, and plopped myself onto the couch to watch tv until it's time to get ready for church (yay church at 1pm). And I did something this morning that I haven't done in a very long time. I turned off the AC. What? Holy crap! Yup, didn't need it!  The tiles on the laundry room floor were cold and there's a nip in the air.  Now, I know this isn't yet a permanent thing, but fall is coming! Everyone has their own way of telling when the fall season is officially approaching (minus looking at the calendar) and this is mine. Cold tiles and no ac. :) Tomorrow is Labor Day, which is the bitter-sweet mark of the end of summer. It has been a gruesome summer, and all I have to say that if this winter is anything like last winter, I'm moving. Somewhere with mild summers and winters, somewhere I enjoy being outside all year long, not just spring and fall.

Well, tomorrow's Labor Day (as previously stated) and there will be grills blazing, people watching parades, parties galore and lots and lots of drinking.  But what will  Brandon and I be doing? GOING TO BOSTON! Yup, tomorrow morning, we will be tipping our hats to the Beeve and watching the horizon for the amazing city of Boston. Of-course, we won't actually see it until Tuesday, but that's not the point.

Here are a few things on our agenda:

HARTFORD, CT

COLLINSVILLE, CT
Why Collinsville, you ask? Well, it's the real-life town (or as close as we can get to it) of Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls. :)

BOSTON, MA
Our Hotel - a block from:

And then....

At the Boston Opera House:
We are sitting in the front balcony seats. So, those right there. :)

Some stuff I'd like to see:
Old North Church & Paul Revere Statue

Awesome North End stuff.

Cheers. This is for Brandon, but I can't wait to go either.

Just cross your fingers that we don't do anything stupid and get in trouble with the:

Oh! And don't forget...
HARVARD
Yup, I'd LOVE to see Harvard! Maybe we could sit in on a class or 2. After-all, it's the beginning of the semester, so they wouldn't notice a new face, right? I think I can still pass for a freshman. *ahem*

Anyway, now that I've looked at tons and tons and tons of pictures, I'm so freakin' pumped that I can't stand myself and now I have to go sit in church and daydream about Boston.  Good thing it's Brandon's turn to teach the kiddos, so I have more free brain time! :)

Then when we get back, it's time to PACK because we move soon! It's another bitter-sweet thing that we're staying in BV, but we've decided to grow where we've been planted.

BCDFGKLQUVWXZ

My husband thinks this blog is about Harry Potter. You will notice by the title that this is not a blog about arryha otterpa (or Hermione or Ron). Just because I've been preoccupied with it for the past couple of days doesn't mean that that's all I think about.
So there.
Well. I don't have much else to say.
Other than that I'm still a little irritated about something the Devil said on Friday.  So, run down: there was an article in the paper about colorless iodine and how it's supposed to be good for toenail fungus (gross) or something. Well, we can't get it in small bottles at the pharmacy, only in a pint sized bottle which is like $43 (yikes!). A TON of people have been asking for it, so, I said to him, couldn't we put in smaller bottles with their label on it and sell it that way?  It would be like $2.65-ish if you divided it straight out for 1 oz bottles, but you could sell it for like $5 a bottle and make a killing! Well...I thought it was a good idea...but apparently not, because he then said to me: I don't expect small town country people to understand how much of a hassle that would be.
.....
Well, excuse me. I'll go get my overalls, straw hat and piece of straw that I keep in my teeth out of the closet to complete my country bumpkin look. I think I have a hay bale that I can put in the back for me to sit on while I spit into my dip bottle and play the fiddle. Oh, and don't forget my dirty bare feet with toenail fungus that I can't cure now because I can't afford $43 for a pint of colorless iodine.
Ass hole.

Brandon:
you need to download me some music from these people:
Straight no chaser "I'm yours/Somewhere over the rainbow" from "with a twist" I could do that whole album.
John Mayer
Jack Johnson
Colbie Caillat
Jayman "gray or blue"
Matt Kearney "City of Black and White"
Ben Folds "Red is Blue"
Some of these are albums, some are songs....you know what to do.
Please. :) And thank you.
I mean, por favor y gracias.

Oh, and don't forget all the bluegrass to play in the background while I'm on that hay bale.

Today is a day like every other day

This morning I woke up with the dread of working with the devil.
It actually wasn't that bad.
But if he asks me to do something that I'm already in the middle of doing, I might throw whatever it is I'm working on at him.
Just warnin' ya. But don't warn him, I want it to be a surprise.
I have realized something about myself...a way to get myself out of bed earlier!  Well, there are some mornings that I have to get up about 7 to use the bathroom, go back to bed for a while and then inevitably get up late.  Well, this morning I tricked myself and refused to get up around 7 and it worked! I amazingly got up slightly earlier. Brandon, I think I'm on to something.

Some days I reminisce about the old days at SVU and the good ol' times I used to have, and I think of certain people. I have this old friend that I had a falling out with about 2 years ago, and I miss her.  But I don't miss the drama that surrounded her. But I miss her.  Today I made the first contact I've had with her since I deleted her from Facebook and it makes me sad today.
And this is what else is on my mind today:
Disney World! Someday soon I will go and love it. Love it. Love it. Love it.
And while I'm there....
The Harry Potter theme park! Of-course, Harry Potter is always on my mind, seeing as how I listen to Potter all the time. You know, my post yesterday was about Potter. Am I taking it a little overboard? Quite possibly.

SO, my husband is going back to school and has to read Jane Austen's Emma for one of his classes....AND I'M SO EXCITED! Emma is quite possibly my favorite book ever (favorite single book) and is most definitely my favorite Austen book, and I get to to read it along with Brandon.  WOO HOO!!! I have been trying to get him to read Austen for a while, but he has a hard time with the language, I think. But he has watched the movie, so he knows the plot already, so I think it'll help a lot.

I am amazed at the fact that I have things to say. Not that anyone cares to read them, but the fact that there are things on my mind enough to write them down. Where's my journal?

Quote of the day:
A crazy lady (literally) in Lexington who thinks she's Serena Rothchild (yeah) came into the pharmacy and said "you Lexington people have no vocabulary.  I'm from New York and and am amazed by the simpletons here".....
I ain't sure what you talkin' 'bout woman, but Ginians speak real good.

Let's see....

I have decided to utilize this blog.  We have a family blog, but blah blah blah other people read that and I'd like to put random Anneness on here. SO here we go!!!

Things I will include in my Anne-filled blog:
Random thoughts of the day
Comments on books I am reading (or listening to, because I do that a lot as well)
You know, life stuff.

And since Brandon will most likely be the only one who will ever read this, I can feel free to be myself!

Work.
May I just say that I 50% LOVE my job, 35% feel so-so about it, 10% mostly hate it, and 5% absolutely hate it. I suck at being on time.  Really.  Punctuality is not one of those gifts that I was born with and I have not yet taken the time to master it. Well, I'm glad to at-least work in a place that doesn't particularly care if I'm late. Today, I was 15 minutes late, yesterday: 22 min, the day before that, probably 15 min again.  I hate that I'm always late, but it's so typical that no one blinks an eyelash when I walk in.  Of-course, they probably talk about me the whole time between 9 and 9:13 when I come in and refuse to look at the clock and acknowledge the severity of my lateness. But I don't care. I get to keep my job and things are cool.  I always stay 20-30 min late (to counterbalance my morning lateness, and my return-from-lunch lateness as well). On the days that the boss-man is there, I attempt to put forth an extra effort, but it doesn't always work out for me. Tomorrow happens to be a boss-is-on-the-premises day and I have already planned to go to bed early so that I don't sleep in.  My problem is that I often get up at 8:26 when I have to leave at 8:45 in order to get there on time. Now, my alarm is set at 7:45 and I just suck at making myself get up. I can't do it! Literally, I open my eyes, and they close on their own! How did I ever get though college? Oh...right...I was either always late for my morning classes or I skipped them to sleep in. Right. *sigh* one day I'll grow up, but I don't foresee that day being any time soon.  I also don't feel like this is a "real job" so that probably has something to do with it.

Potter.
So, as lame as it may seem, books, movies and other forms of entertainment are a very large part of my life. Fortunately I married a man who is in sync with me on this, and he accepts me for who I am.  I have more books than clothes and shoes combined. Books never go out of style! and I have more movies than...I don't know. It goes: books, movies, saved magazines then clothes and shoes. That's how my priorities are, I guess.  Anyway, the biggest of them all is Harry Potter.  Yes, Harry Potter, that guy with a scar on his head and a holly wand with a unicorn core in his hand. And as most lesser Potter fans also know, the next movie is coming out soon!
Now, this poster is as far as I'll go in getting a sneak peek at the upcoming movie. I REFUSE to watch the trailer (have since movie 4) before I see the movie, and I definitely go see it on opening night because I simply can't wait longer than that.
I've gone at midnight since movie 4, since they didn't have midnight showings near me for the first 3, but I still went for the first showing that was available. But I've never had a party.  This year...there will be a party. Oh yes, and awesomeness will occur.  Here are a few ideas:
